What's The Weather Like?
The Whitsundays are on the same Latitude as the Fiji Islands. They offer sunny tropical weather virtually all year round. The water temperature varies from 23°C in winter to 28°C in summer and the islands are protected from ocean swells by the Great Barrier Reef. Summers are hot and balmy with occasional showers, but even these are warm and refreshing. The trade winds are usually stronger between May and August, however you can expect sailing breezes almost every day.

What Should I Pack?
Bring a swimming costume, towel and light, natural-fibre casual clothing. You may like to pack a sarong or wrap for visiting the islands or beach, or for strolling around the shops. A windcheater is useful for sailing and for the cooler evenings of the tropical winter.
You may want something a little dressier, but still casual, for eating out or partying. Don't forget your hat! You'll need your swimming gear as Queensland has the highest incidence of skin cancer in the world, absolutely essential are sun block (SPF 15+ is highly recommended), a wide brimmed hat, a cover-up for when you've had enough sun, as well as sandshoes or sneakers for walking on coral sands.
